Michigan certainly qualified, as Wolverine Nation quickly tired of a Lloyd Carr era fittingly described as the under-achieving all-stars. Tennessee was the other team that earned the dubious and dreaded under-achieving tab, and if the restlessness and ill contempt on display inside Vol Nation is any indicator, I was certainly justified with my opinion.

EDSBS has repeatedly placed coach Phillip Fulmer’s under-achieving all stars in the Top-10 for their criminal disposition and dishonorable sensibilities, and combined with their offensive history of ineptitude without Offensive Coordinator David Cutcliff (the new coach at Duke) at the helm of the ship, things could get a bit dicey this season. Coach Fulmer had better win the SEC outright, or at least drop another couple million on a campus library project if he expects to stay in the good graces of Vol Nation.

Kyle King over at Dawg Sports has taken a certain mainstream writer to task on several occasions, as well as calling out any person who calls in question the legitimacy of the Georgia Bulldogs as a, so called, National Power.

While I agree that Georgia is certainly a national power, I equate their national power rating due to circumstances that have occurred outside the boundaries of the field, more than the results that have occurred upon it. I will do my best to explain this rationale without offending Dawg Nation, for Head Coach Mark Richt is one of my favorite coaches that I enjoy watching and I have tried to emulate his demeanor as much as possible when performing my own coaching duty assignments.

So without further ado, here are the main reasons why I think people across the country, specifically those outside the southeast corridor, think of Florida, LSU and Tennessee (and even Auburn) as THE POWER schools inside the mighty SEC Conference, and why the average fan outside the SEC might overlook a very deserving Bulldog program.

My Apologies…I caught a couple of mistakes in this article before I had to leave for Menlo, California as our Willamette Bearcat baseball team opens the 2008 season on Saturday and I didn’t have time to fix a few minor mistakes. Nothing major just a few words that should be omitted, but my aplogies nonetheless. Once again, time is not on my proofreading side.

Before I dive right into giving my take on his Resume Ranking system, which is the operational methodology invoked by M-Go-Blogs author, who runs the Blog-Poll, I’d like to say that T. Kyle King, next to Sunday Morning Quarterback, is one of my favorite writers on the net.

Sports Illustrated has Stewart Mandel, CBS Sports has Dennis Dodd, and ESPN has both Ivan Maisel and Pat Forde, and many are favorites of mine as well, but if you haven’t visited Dawg Sports, you are in for a treat.

Not only is his writing style inquisitive and pretty to read, Kyle works full-time as a lawyer in the Litigation industry, and runs, in my regard, the most in-depth SEC analysis site on the web.

I have been a major critic of the polling system for quite some time, and there are many variations around the net. Stewart Mandel, a popular football writer over at Sports Illustrated has used his own form of Resume Polling, with similar Blog-Poll results.

The only draw back is we have to wait until the end of the season, and by then, even before the final BCS bowl games commence, much of the nation has already turned their attention to the pre-season poll for 2008 and national signing day coming in February.

When calling the QOF-Rating elements into play, where we analyze how a given team has performed against the elite this past season (defining elite as those teams who have gone on to win at least 9 games in a given season), you can quickly begin to recognize the cream rising to the top, which often flies in the face of the much publicized AP and Coaches Poll or the conference superiority ratings which have been popularized over at Sports Illustrated (Bill Trocchii), CBS Sports (Clay Travis) or ESPN (Ivan Maisel and Pat Forde).

Whenever a college football fan brings up the ill-fated playoff word in front of the administrative Godfathers who control the sport via their self-serving monopoly, you can bet the administrative bigwigs will quickly stomp out the playoff fire with the often used rebuttal (ace in the hole) “how will the fans be able to attend from week-to-week because they will be traveling cross-country to the events?”

This is certainly the million dollar question, but if we begin to think like the late Tom Mickle, the ACC Conference administrator who created the initial version of the BCS, called the Bowl Coalition in 1992 by thinking outside the box, we can quickly challenge and defeat this oft used rebuttal.

Although this is certainly a major hurdle to consider, when adding some careful planning and consideration to our “outside-the-box mindset,” we can revive the playoff fire and put this rebuttal to bed. The highest hurdle we face, which is similar to the NCAA college football bowl format, is history and tradition.

Lloyd Carr and his much maligned, sloth-footed Wolverines, shredded the speedy Gators yesterday and for all the hype we are constantly bombarded with from the major networks, like ESPN, CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated, regarding SEC Speed, the conference is a marginal 11-9 this year against the other slow footed and dim witted BCS Conferences.

The SEC, however, is fifty-something and two against the non-BCS, and for the final time, in my opinion, Hawaii is undeserving of the BCS podium, which was painfully obvious after last nights Bowl-dawg attack in New Orleans.

UTAH 35 - NAVY 32
Poinsettia Bowl - San Diego, California

Sometimes the best bowl games of the season are not necessarily the venues that are the most anticipated. If this opening bowl game between Utah and Navy, which took place at the Poinsettia Bowl, located in San Diego, California is any indicator, the Bowl Season is going to pick up where the wacky, zany regular season has left off.

I have campaigned on many occasions that both Utah and Navy should be BCS Conference members. The BCS Busters Model, which I have touted throughout my book manuscript project, would do just that. Utah, would in fact, be moving to the PAC-10 Conference to make way for the newly created BCS Rocky Mountain Conference, which simply aligns many of the best non-BCS football programs historically over the last decade, throughout the BCS era.

Navy, on the other hand, would enter the Big-East Conference along with Army, Appalachian State and East Carolina. Think about it. All 4 teams are located along the North East corridor and this past season, all teams played the majority of the teams located within the conference, and had excellent results. This is a look at how the Big-East, PAC-10 and mythical Rocky Mountain Conference might have played out this past season.

Will need to see the http://www.ncaa-schedule.com site to see this!

This magical realignment, so necessary to eliminate the chaos of the BCS, bringing order via a chronological sequence of events (the BCS Busters Regular Season Playoff), which would determine college football superiority, while bringing the ethical compass of the sport back into fold, could very easily occur.

While many college football fans around the country continue to scoff at the concept of Mountain West, Western Athletic and C-USA teams being adopted into the BCS family tree, Utah’s recent history provides a glimpse into why this concept should come to fruition.

Most people around the country agree, the BCS may in fact be the Anti-Christ. While listening to ESPN “BCS expert analyst” Brad Edwards on the ESPNU pod-cast found within this very website (Page 4), Edwards expressed the fact that there were not any glaring surprises considering the fallout of the BCS in 2007.

I agree whole-heartily, but under a different set of circumstances. The riddle wrapped up inside the enigma, often hidden, or better yet, ignored by even the most astute college football fan, is the fact that the BCS cronies talk about the super alliance of bowls truly only being about a one versus two match-up. This simply is not the case. In fact it is a major smoke screen which fails to illuminate the hidden alliance and agenda within the BCS era.

According to Edwards, the reason why Missouri and Arizona state were left out of the BCS Bowl games is the fact that one, the major bowls do not like to take a team who has lost in their conference championship game, especially one which lost by 21 points to Oklahoma, and two, the BCS Bowls are not out to reward the teams who deserve the marquee games, but are focused primarily on selling the most tickets and corporate advertising.

First of all, these comments would be honorable and acceptable to the majority of the people. However, I can’t believe the fans can’t see through this oligarchic monopoly called the BCS. I can’t help but notice the irony here as the Nebraska Cornhuskers were graciously awarded the opportunity to play for the National Championship in 2002, when they were blown out 63 - 36 by their arch-rivals, the Colorado Buffalos in the last game of the regular season. The Cornhuskers not only didn’t win the Big-12 Championship, but they didn’t even win their division as well.

It was explained back then that if the Cornhuskers played in a conference like the PAC-10, they most certainly would have won the division. Of course, the team that blew out the Huskers in their last regular season game on Friday after Thanksgiving, and won the Big-12 Conference championship a week later, couldn’t hang with PAC-10 champion Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl less than a month later on New Years Day, as the Ducks Col-O-Routed the Buffalos 38-16 to finish second in the national polls that season. The Huskers were down 34-0 at half-time a day later in the BCS National Championship Rose Bowl.

Most of the teams competing within the College Football Bowl Sub-division, better known to longtime collegiate gridiron supporters as Division I-A, are locked out of ever competing, not only for a BCS Bowl opportunity, but the national championship itself.

This is one reason why the BCS needs to be altered, but is also the main reason why it likely will not EVER change, as the elite members - tabbed by television itself - have a significant stronghold on the system, and will never relinquish their death grip until either the fans or Congress step in with a remedy.

This was never more evident this week when West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez left his alma matter for the Michigan job.

I’m not sure I agree with this move…. (Click Here !!!!)

To read the rest of the article, you will need to click THIS LINK as I have developed a new website in anticipation of my book project coming to its conclusion. Yes, it is finally nearing its completion.

On the new site, I have developed a new blog and a unique look at the brackets based on this past 2007 regular season.

I have also run across a unique business opportunity for all website owners as this looks to be a no-brainer as it is far superior to Google’s Adsense Program. I think you will agree…(Click Here!!!)

I will continue to post the beginning of my articles here on wordpress, but you will have to link to my new site to read the rest of the articles. Although WordPress has many unique features, it is far too constrictive in terms of advertising and video embedding, something I think is needed for those of us who cover college football.

It’s great to be back blogging again, and I will try to write at least one article every other day. I hope you forgive my tardiness as I have been busy developing a new website and finishing up my book manuscript.

Please give this Pay Per Play advertising a look as you can always say no and walk away. This is such a groundfloor viral opportunity to all website and blog owners I thought I would spread the word.
